Arrival airport and pickup in London
Our team will meet you at London Heathrow Airport or King’s Cross Station and take you to your accommodation. The journey takes around an hour from Heathrow by Tube, or just 15 minutes from King’s Cross.
All transportation from the airport to your accommodation is covered by your programme fees.
Booking your flights to London
Searching for flights online is easier than ever, but it can still be a time-consuming, overwhelming, and frustrating process. If you need support, our staff have in-depth knowledge of travelling to the UK. We’ll let you know the best arrival times and recommend the most convenient flight options.
We can advise you on booking the best return flights, ensuring you have the safest, most convenient, and most cost-effective flight options, no matter how complex your travel plans are.
London is served by several international airports, with Heathrow being one of the main arrival points for international travellers. If you’re arriving at a different London airport or train station, please contact the team in advance to confirm whether alternative collection arrangements are available.
Visa requirements for your medical programme in London
One of the perks of volunteering with us is the visa guidance we give you. Our dedicated pre-departure team will provide you with up-to-date information on visa requirements. You can get in touch with us if you have any visa queries, big or small, and we will talk you through the process.
Depending on your nationality and the length of your stay, you may need a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the United Kingdom. You can find the latest information through the official UK government website. If you’re unsure which requirements apply to you, contact our team for guidance.
Your induction and orientation in London
On arrival in London, our team will welcome you and arrange your transfer to the student residence, where you’ll have time to unpack, freshen up and get to know your roommate.
You’ll receive a welcome briefing covering everything you need to know about your programme, where you’ll also get to know more about the schedule ahead and shown around the local area, including the location of:
- Banks & ATMs
- Supermarkets
- Emergency services
Your first day on the programme
Your first day is all about getting settled in. You’ll join a guided tour of London, taking in famous landmarks such as Downing Street and Buckingham Palace, before starting your medical internship the following day.
Support, safety, and backup
Your safety and security is our prime concern. We have many procedures and systems to ensure you have the support you need to enjoy your trip with peace of mind. The local staff are available 24 hours a day to help, and will be on hand to make sure you settle in well at your accommodation and placement. If you encounter any problems, they will be available to help at any time.
